about us
A graduate level course at the University of Vermont asked the question: why are lawns such a large part of our American identity? After learning about the more effective, efficient, and enjoyable uses for that space, they considered there may be neighbors out there that are thinking just like us but don’t know where to start.

Our Mission
Through grant funding, we create free lawn transformations in the Burlington area into luscious pollinator gardens, food forests, and other beneficial ecosystems. The only catch? You must share the yield with your neighbors, or one of our many partners (link to a page with potential donation spaces) who distribute food excess to your Burlington community.
Our course
The class still exists as a service-learning class, meaning these students go out in the field and actually work with you to reimagine your lawn. Each spring, the team and a group of volunteers designs and plants the lawn you want.
